19 Days itinerary - Nagaland, Assam and West Arunachal Pradesh.

The North East India zoo geography is highly diverse with many bird species that are endemic and unique. The Khonoma Nature Conservation at Nagaland and Tragopan Wildlife Sanctuary set up by people of Khonoma Village to conserve Blyth's Tragopan is a 96 sq km area of dense forest.

Kaziranga National Park in Assam is a diverse habitat with stretches of tall elephant grasses, dense tropical forests and water bodies that are the life line of this ecosystem. Kaziranga is home to largest population of One Horned Rhino, Eastern Swamp Deer, Indian Elephant and Water Buffalo. Sighting of these mega fauna are very frequent along with tigers which survive in large numbers.

The Park is home to more than 450 species including winter migrants. Kaziranga is a unique birding destination; eighteen species are globally endangered. Another species that is widely sought is the Bengal Florican. Most of the bird tours are conducted on jeep safaris and elephant back. Interesting species in the eastern range of the park are Spot Billed Pelican, Falcated Teal and White-eyed Pochard Panbari Reserved Forest is ideal for forest birds such as Great hornbill and the redheaded Trogon, Green-backed Heron, the rare White bellied Heron Black-necked Storks, Spoonbill, Grey headed fishing eagle and Pallas fishing eagle, Grey headed Lapwing, Marsh Babbler, Jerdan's Bushchat, White throated Bushchat, Lineated Barbet, Pied Harrier, Blue-bearded Bee-eater, Spotted Redshank, Rosy Minivet, Dark-necked Tailorbird, Blue-eared Barbet, Ruby-cheeked Sunbird, Streaked Spider hunter, Forest Wagtail, Blyth's Pipit, and Yellow breasted Bunting.

Eaglesnest wildlife sanctuary, Lies at the foothills of Himalaya Range in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh, India. The protected area a sub montane forest is named after Kameng River passing through East of the park. The zoo geography and topography is diverse. The altitude varies from five hundred meter plus to more than three thousand meters.

The Eagle Nest Sanctuary is popular birding destination. Due to altitudinal variations bewildering varieties of bird species are found here. The avifauna is interesting and avian seen here are.

Bugun Liocichla was discovered here in year 1995. Eaglenest is home to at least 454 species of birds

Day 1
Kolkutta/Delhi to Dimapur –Khonoma

Kolkutta to Dimapur by air and transfer to Khonoma Village Night at home stay accommodation.This is an eighty kilometer ride which takes approximately 3 1/2 hours of driving.

Day 2
Khonoma.

Whole day bird watching at Khonoma 2500 meter. Stay overnight home stay accommodation. Search for Blyth's Tragopan, Fire-tailed Sunbird, Mountain Bamboo Partridges, Red-faced Liocichla, Hill Partridges, Rusty capped Fulvetta, Greysided Thrush, Black breasted Thrush, Grey sided Laughing thrush, Eye browed Thrush, Khaleej Pheasant, Slaty backed Flycatcher, Vivid Niltava, Short wing, Golden Bush Robin, Striped Laughing thrush, Blue winged Laughing thrush, Spot breasted Scimitar Babbler, Naga Wren-Babbler, Spotted Wren Babbler, Solitary Snipe, Gould's sunbird.

Day 3
Khonoma

Spend the whole day bird watching. A community intiative led to a major conservation effort and Khonoma Nature Reserve and Tragopan Sanctuary was notified. This is an interesting place to watch fauna and avian species in East India. We will waste little time and indulge in serious bird watching. We will likely see mountain bamboo partridge, silver eared mesia, pygmy wren warbler, purple cochea, brown capped laughing thrush, eye browed thrush, grey sided thrush, spot and black breasted laughing thrush, flavescent bulbul, blue naped pitta, Eurasian woodcock and many more species in the day.

Day 4
Khonoma to Kaziranga(Assam)

Bird watching in early morning time and than drive 05 hrs Kaziranga National Park Stay the night at Gupri Garh.

Day 5/6/7
Kaziranga

Bird watching for three full days at Kaziranga. Most of the tours are on jeep safari and elephant back. At watching points treking is allowed. Survey at Panbari Reserve Forest followed by elephant ride at Gupri garh. The destination in foothills of Himayalas is home to more than three hundered bird species including migrants. On tour we are expect to come acorss many interesting species that would include greater adjutant stork, wreathed hornbills, Finn's weaver, Eastern imperial eagle, white tailed fish eagle, black breasted parrot bill, black necked stork, Bengal floricn, swamp francolin, bar headed geese, stout billed kingfisher, marsh babbler, Oriental hobby, great hornbill and rufus vented prinia and many more.

Day 8
Kaziranga to Nameri at distance of 89 kilometers

After early morning drive to Nameri National Park. Stay at Nameri Eco Camp. It takestwo and half hours to reach the destination for Kaziranga. Local Birding here.

Day 9
Nameri in Assam: Eastern Himalayas.

Three whole day at Nameri National Park: Birding especially for the Prantincoles, White winged wood duck, Broadbills, Ibis bill, Collared Falconet, Dollar bird, Pin tailed green pigeon and Pompadour Pigeon, Daurian Redstart, Wreathed and Great Hornbill, Chestnut headed Beeeater and Blue bearded Bee-eater and various barbets.The habitats are semi and tropical tropical evergreen, moist deciduous forests with proliferation of cane and bamboo. This lead to a diverse terrain rich in avifauna and wildlife.

Day 10
Nameri to Dirang

Drive to Dirang 1500 meter at distance of 169 kilometers which takes five and half hours by road. Night stay at Hotel Pemaling Key species: Rufous-bellied Eagle, Lemon rumped Honey guide, Mountain Hawk Eagle, Long-billed Thrush, Bhutan Laughing thrush, Grey headed Bullfinch, Ward's Trogon, long billed plover, slender billed scimitar babbler, and more.

Day 11
Dirang to Sangti Valley 1600 meter

Begin early morning for full day birding at Sangti Valley. Come back for over night stay at Hotel Pemaling.
Key Species: Slender-Billed Oriole, Little Fork tail, Black-tailed Crake, Long-billed Plover, Ibis bill, Rufous-breasted Accentor, Sapphire Flycatcher, Ultramarine Flycatcher, Brown-breasted Flycatcher, Wallcreeper, Slaty-backed Flycatcher, Daurian Redstart, Rosy Pipits.

Day 12
Dirang to Sela Pass 4500 Meters

AM: Drive to Sela Pass for full day birding, Evening return to Dirang for night stay.
Key species: Sclaters Monal, Blood Pheasant, Himalayan Monal, Beautiful Rose Finch, Grandala, White-browed Tit Warbler and White-bellied Redstart.

Day 13
Dirang to Lama Camp Eaglesnest 2350m

Drive to Lama camp at Eaglesnest for night stay at well equipped camp.
Key Species : Hill Partridge, Gould's Short wing, Slender-billed Scimitar Babbler. Kaleej Pheasants, Bhutan Laughing thrush, New Liocichla, Rusty-throated Wren Babbler, Spotted Wren Babbler, Rusty fronted Bar wing, Yellow-rumped Honey guide. Rufous headed Parrot bill and more.

Day 14
Lama Camp to Sunderview 2465m

Trip at Top Ridge. Night stay at the Camp.

Guwhati airport to Delhi/Calcutta.
